Hazardous waste, codes and disposal

Many people get confused betweenHazardous waste, special waste and toxic waste. In reality, these are three very different categories, governed by the various paragraphs of Legislative Decree 152/06, art. 184.

When we talk aboutHazardous wastewe refer to several classes ofdanger,we have like this:

  • Source of dangerous substances

When we think ofHazardous wastewe must not imagine objects outside our daily reality. In our homes, iHazardous waste, are produced continuously, used frying oil is just the most striking example ofdangerous wastefor urban use. The othersHazardous wastevery common are:

  • expired drugs
  • Cans of varnishes, varnishes, paints, dyes, printer inks, dyes ..
  • Syringes
  • Containers of glues and glues, disinfectants ...
  • Stain removers and solvents such as trichlorethylene, white spirit ...
  • Solid and liquid fuels
  • Vegetable oils for domestic use or fuel oils for cars
  • Batteries and batteries
  • Transistors, calculators, walkman, electronic games ...
  • Car accumulators
  • Mercury

All theHazardous wastemust be separated from other types ofwaste. To dispose of theHazardous wasteit will be necessary to place them in the appropriate containers. In Italy the phenomenon of smugglers is spreadingHazardous waste. Batteries, tires, scrap crammed into vans and containers full of Hazardous waste, loaded in Genoa and embarked for Africa. in the first six months of 2013, Customs has already seized 5,600 waste in the Port of Genoa. There were 693 over the whole of 2012. And the estimated value of the waste seized in Genoa and La Spezia is 292,400 euros.
