Pomegranate, a typical fruit of autumn, can be considered a super food thanks to its multiple nutritional and beneficial properties (read more on Properties of the Pomegranate); apparently drinking pomegranate juice regularly every morning on an empty stomach would have a number of health benefits.
The recipe that we will propose to you today involves the use of pomegranate, a fruit also known as pomegranate or garnet. In this regard, we will try our hand at preparing the pomegranate jam to spread on bread and various croutons.
There pomegranate jam it also goes very well with soft cheeses, but it can also be used to decorate desserts.
Pomegranate jam, the ingredients
- 5 pomegranates of about 250 grams each
- 1 untreated organic lemon
- 500 grams of brown sugar
- 1 sachet of Fruttapec in proportion 1: 1

Pomegranate jam, the preparation
- Take the pomegranates and peel them, taking care to completely remove the peel and yellow skin that has a bitter taste
- Once this is done, shell them and squeeze the juice contained in the beans. For this operation you can use the potato masher or the centrifuge: the liquid obtained should weigh around 850 grams
- Filter the juice and put it in a steel pot then add the juice, always filtered, of half a lemon
- Once this is done, add the sugar, the whole yellow lemon peel, taking care to avoid the white part which is bitter and finally the sachet of Fruttapec: it is advisable to respect the proportions indicated on the package which are generally 1: 1
- Mix the mixture with the help of a wooden spoon then boil the pomegranate jam for about 30 minutes
- After this time, turn off the heat and remove the lemon peel
- Take previously sterilized glass jars and pour the still liquid mixture into them
- Close the jars hermetically with their lids and turn them upside down, so that the vacuum is formed and the preparation lasts longer
- After the jars have cooled completely and the pomegranate jelly has taken on consistency, turn them over again then affix the label with the date of preparation
Store in the pantry away from light and humidity; to be consumed within one year from the date of preparation.
