Organic detergent, properties and benefits

The organic detergentit is that detergent that contains a concentrate of surfactant substances from nature. The surfactants are able to emulsify fats and dissolve dirt in water. The surfactants present indetergentstraditional are artificial and can damage the environment and human health from the production process to its use at home.

THEbiological detergentsthey are produced, starting from natural substances, with simple reactions of hydrolysis of triglycerides and subsequent saponification of the various classes of fatty acids obtained.

In simpler terms, in the home, a organic detergentit can be made from oil or butter that has expired. With the use of increasingly unsaturated oils (such as, for example, sunflower or corn oil), more liquid and flowing soaps will be obtained, on the contrary, using saturated fats (such as lard, lard or expired butter), it will be possible to producebiological detergentssolid. THE biological detergents solids, mixed with other natural ingredients such as wood ash (with the addition of water), can give life to the so-called "ramno", a very useful bleaching compound for washing sheets, towels and linen capable of washing at high temperatures.

THE detergents, as well as soap in general, they have always been produced starting from oils and fats; with the advent of the chemical industry, the starting ingredients have been replaced with synthetic detergents derived from petroleum which, in increasingly sophisticated versions, crowd the shelves of supermarkets.

Even if the advertisements lead us to think that they existdetergentsspecific for cleaning each surface, actually few detergents are needed; at home it would be enough to have three types of detergents, the first generic suitable for all surfaces (tiles, floors, glass…), a dishwashing detergent and a laundry detergent.

From an environmental point of view, idetergentsconventional ones have several contraindications:

  • they do not degrade easily, therefore, once they reach the sewer system they are highly polluting.
  • They contain foaming substances such as pyrophosphate, which is responsible for the pollution of reservoirs, rivers, lakes and seas.
  • They are the cause of the eutrophication of water by promoting the growth of algae, in particular of red algae (by means of the phosphate released in the water which promotes algal growth).
  • They contain a large number of allergens, harmful to humans.
  • In the home environment they release substances that are potentially toxic to human health.

To cope with the growing need not to pollute the environment, consumers can choose the use of aorganic detergentbased on natural substances and completely biodegradable.

Aorganic detergentit is far more expensive than a conventional detergent but it is also more concentrated, in fact using aorganic detergentIt will be necessary to moderate the quantities: an excessive amount of detergent may not dissolve in a small volume of water.
