Plants that attract beneficial insects to the garden

Have you ever heard of biological control? Wanting to appeal to wikipedia as a source, it is "a technique that exploits the relationships of antagonism between living organisms to contain the populations of harmful ones"

This means: increasing the presence of ladybugs, bees and hoverflies to fight aphids and scale insects. At this point we ask ourselves: how can we increase the beneficial insects to eradicate or at least weaken the harmful ones? Plants come to our aid, and in this regard we will see which species attract beneficial insects to the garden

Plants that attract beneficial insects to the vegetable garden, the list
It should be noted that thanks to the biological control technique, the use of chemical pesticides and those substances, which, although natural, kill both harmful and useful insects, are eliminated or at least reduced. The plants that attract these precious allies are:

Dandelion
It is a plant with a thousand qualities including that of attracting ladybugs. Better known as' dandelion ',' dandelion has remarkable purifying and anti-inflammatory properties. And speaking of dandelion, we recommend reading the article "Dandelion, properties and recipes"

Nettle
Friend of ladybirds, it is a fantastic natural pesticide, we have talked extensively about its macerate in previous articles; it is an excellent substitute for insecticides in the fight against aphids (beans, broad beans, peas; citrus fruits; apple, pear, peach and cherry) and against spider mites (tomatoes, aubergines, apple trees, citrus fruits…). In this regard, we refer you to reading the article "Nettle macerate"

Potentilla
Not only is it a very pretty and decorative plant but it is also loved by ladybugs! So why not use it in your garden to create a small flower bed or a border? Potentilla fruticosa is a small shrub that blooms all summer and is also resistant to drought and cold.

Sage
It is a plant that attracts bees going crazy for sages. And what about the healing properties recognized in homeopathy of Salvia officinalis? Sage can live spontaneously for over 15 years and in cultivation for 5 to 7 years.

Calendula
It is a great ally of the garden; not only its roots emit substances that keep some parasites away from the ground, but its petals attract the hoverflies, which are not as beautiful as ladybirds, but are greedy of the phytophages, which feed on plants and parts of them. Very bad for fruit trees!

thyme
It is an excellent aromatic plant in the kitchen, undemanding and easy to reproduce. Hoverflies find refuge among the leaves of its thick cushions.
